In the ibook store!

Sent an email to Smashwords about the Apple ibook problem and they responded right away.  These people are great if you are an author, book publisher or purchaser. So now 'Hemostat!!!' is well represented on all major (and some minor) distributors. That hurdle is finally crossed and now on to getting the word out to see if anybody wants to read it.

Almost Everywhere, anyway

So, now everything has got through the 'Meatgrinder' and is up on most ebook distributor's web pages.  I haven't found it on Apple's ibook site, but I have been looking with a PC, which may be the source of my problem.  I will try to get it out of my ipod, if one can download books on it, I don't know if it is possible yet. It would be hard to read on the tiny screen, as well as being difficult to navigate if I were to enlarge the text.

As for my career as a blackjack dealer, it's over.  I just couldn't 'get it' with all the noise and taunting from the players, as well as the knowledge that there were several people watching me closely for errors, which you are not allowed to correct by yourself.  These required of me a  mindset that proved to be beyond my capabilities.  I did get a 'boat load' (pun intended) of data and character studies which may show up in some future writings. Who knows?

Reader's Paradise

If you are an avid reader, like me, you'll enjoy this new site. Oysterbooks, a brand new subscription service where you can "read all you want" for less than ten bucks a month! https://www.oysterbooks.com/

After numerous reformattings of Hemostat!!! I finally have uploaded successfully a format that got through the 'meat grinder', an automated converter from MS Word to all ebook formats.  It was a challenge. For some reason, Word would randomly place a sentence in superscript. These errors got through the automated inspections, but were obvious when looked at through an ereader program. Had to nuke all formatting several times before it would stop doing that. Then it came out without any errors. Yeay!

Now, back to work on the Chula Vista based story.

New Everything!

Just uploaded HEMOSTAT!!! to Smashwords to be published on November 20th.  It will be available on numerous formats besides just Amazon Kindle.  They have been very good to me, but it is time to expand to other markets.

Also I got out from under those trailers to go to work dealing cards at the local casino. There are some Interesting Characters there, too!

I'm hoping all goes well with both of these new adventures.

Got it!

No excuses offered.  It just takes awhile to get my excrement compiled into one organized configuration, so to speak.  So here's an update.  HEMOSTAT http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008703796
has been a huge success, raking in $4.71 this month!  This places me 303,000 on Amazon's bestseller (?) list.  I can't let this go to my head.

Actually, there are things that have bubbled to the surface of my consciousness over that last few months that I had forgotten about when it was first published.  If I come up with enough stuff, I think I'll publish a second edition.  The only complaint I got was that it was too short.  Right now it would be a good one to borrow from the lending library at Amazon.

Buoyed by this overwhelming success, I have started to sketch out a story, hopefully a novella set in my hometown.  It involves characters both real (long deceased) and invented, and, of course cars.  After all the cars of the 50's and 60's were awesome, artistic creations that people could drive! The research is the most fun part of it; trying to recall people and places with all the changes that have happened.  My goal (in part) is to present a nostalgic picture of life in Chula Vista set against a more grievous plot.  We'll see.

Out There

What a crock!  Let's get one thing straight from the beginning.  I do not consider myself so important that anybody would be too interested in what goes here.  Yes, each of us is unique, like every snowflake is unique in a blinding blizzard.  Every dust mote floating in an amber shaft of afternoon sunlight is also unique.  So why am I doing this?  It's just that I really enjoy putting words on paper (or other media), almost as much as reading them. I'll read just about anything placed before me; books (of course) magazines, journals, reports, menus... instructions, even. That's how I got here; laboring through reams of instructions related to putting up a 'personal web page'.

I also like to 'do stuff'.  Build things... work with my hands and brain. So, that's what I'm off to do now... things.  Like finishing up that 'personal web page'.
